Germany Übergestern (supported by the Federal Foundation for the Study of the Communist Dictatorship in East Germany) is a photographic project exploring the lives of those whose professional paths no longer fit the new system after the fall of the Berlin Wall. Many had to change jobs, abandon careers, and leave former lives behind. The fall of the Wall brought forth stories so specific and complex that they often require deep historical knowledge to fully grasp. Projects dealing with such history must strike a balance between factual accuracy and emotional accessibility to truly engage the viewer.
Dario J Laganà was born in 1986 in Milan and lives in Berlin. After studying photography at the Accademia di Belle Arti di Brera (Milan), he focused on documentary and artistic projects exploring memory, identity, and landscape. His work examines the traces of historical change and its impact on people and places. Laganà’s photographs have been shown in many exhibitions across Europe and published in international magazines.
