Urns Made from Pulp with Personal Memorabilia

T´URN x Museum Haus des Papiers

In this unique and intensive six-hour workshop, you will have the opportunity to model a paper-pulp urn for yourself or for a loved one, using personal memorabilia, together with artist Jessica Maria Toliver at the Museum Haus des Papiers. The focus is on the use of natural pigments such as earth, sand, or ash in combination with the finest cotton fiber from Hahnemühle.

The artist guides you personally and sensitively from the very beginning, approaching themes of memory, farewell, and materiality in a calm and reflective environment. Individual urns emerge from the brought-in memorabilia—artistic objects situated between ritual, sculpture, and biographical expression.

The workshop combines craft techniques with artistic reflection. Jessica Maria Toliver accompanies the entire process in a sensitive and practical way: from selecting and incorporating the memory materials, through production and modeling, to the final viewing of the completed works. No prior artistic experience is required.

The urns created during the workshop are designed as real burial urns and may be used for interment in accordance with the currently applicable criteria of the FriedWald concept. The production follows the relevant certification and material requirements.

After a two-week drying period, a second appointment will take place for the handover of the urns. All further details regarding the process and material options will be clarified in an individual preliminary phone consultation with the artist.

The workshop is open to anyone interested in engaging artistically with remembrance culture, transience, and personal history.
