What happens to democratic spaces when attitude becomes a pose and no one listens anymore?
In the summer of 2025, the museum Haus des Papiers will dedicate a large-scale photo festival to this question. The focus is on the theme of “Understanding Democracy and Respectful Communication.” Where language reaches its limits, images can open up new spaces. Here, photography becomes a medium of critical engagement.
“Communication and Attitude” runs from July 3 to September 7 and brings photographic perspectives into public spaces — across 16 exhibition venues in Berlin, Chemnitz, and Basel: on facades, construction fences, and in cultural institutions.
